Spiritual Warfare (Part II)

Proverbs 18:21 KJV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit there of.

I learned very early into my Christian life that my words carried consequences. Good and bad. I tended to be quiet, shy, soft spoken. My demeanor was typically calm and laid back. Fighting wasn’t my thing and I didn’t like to be around people who did. However when I became a mom....I found my voice. But maybe not in the way you may think.

I knew from my parents and the experiences they had in life how important it was to SPEAK the living Word of God over their lives and the lives of their children. Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) says: “

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” I began to SPEAK OUT LOUD the promises of God (specific verses from Gods word) over my children, myself, family....any situation that tried to bring defeat or discouragement to me....every....single....day. I would remind the enemy who I was in Christ and that I had been given the authority to rule over anything he would throw my way. I would dance & sing before the Lord. (Psalms 149:3 says Praise His name with dancing!) And when my little ones found their voice....I started training them for the battle.

The Christian life is not a playground it’s a battleground. Truth be told- it’s not exactly how I want to start my day, but if I’m prepared...I’m not taken by surprise, I’m not trying to climb up off the ground from being plowed over, I’m not struggling to stand my ground and fight. I’m ready! Warrior ready. And this my friend is where we have been given these precious nuggets of truth, wisdom and power (authority) from Gods word to prepare for any spiritual battle that comes against us. Read Ephesians 6:10-17! Here it tells us exactly what we need to know.

So remember this-“Words kill, words give life, they’re either poison or fruit - you choose.” The Message

Once you become a Warrior and learn how to fight the battle-you become “seasoned” you discern, you recognize, you are aware. Your armor becomes comfortable. You know how to run in it. You know how to use it to the fullest. You know it -and it fits like a glove. That does not mean it’s easy. A war never is. But if I’m ready and have prepared, and KNOW who my God is and the authority that He’s given to me....well then, I can say with boldness “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” Philippians 4:13.

Remember when I said that my Dad would walk into those dark places where the Haitians would meet to preform their various demonic activities, ceremonies, rituals? (Please see part 1 of the Spiritual Warfare blog to read about) Well he said that the oppression they met with was very strong and frightening. He could feel the demonic strongholds. As he repeated the story back to us years later he said that in those moments he would say out loud - “Greater is He that is in me that he that is in the world!” 1 John 4:4 (KJV) He was able to press through and stand his ground because he was a seasoned warrior. He knew that his God was the one who demons bow down to.

So remember this-“Words kill, words give life, they’re either poison or fruit - you choose.” The Message
